Chic Shopaholic: Hakuhodo

My mom's friend Tsume recently sent me an amazing gift - brushes from HAKUHODO! It's a Japanese brush line and as you may know, I love Japanese branded brushes such as Suqqu, as they're made from high quality hairs and materials for the most luxurious makeup tools.

Tsume sent me a 5-piece  set called Candy Pink Set, I'm not sure what collection it's from but I know it is limited edition. Four of the brushes are kept in a small black plastic folded case. The pink-handle brushes are carried in a small metallic pink makeup bag. Brushes include:
  • Powder/Cheek Brush: Retractable face brush that can be used for powder foundation, bronzer and blush. With its rectangular shape and flat-domed top, it has a bit of density but with enough bend to blend and buff.
  • Highlight/Cheek Brush: Flat, domed brush for applying blush or highlighting the cheeks.
  • Eye Shadow Brush: Medium-large flat, domed shaped brush, similar to the Highlight/Cheek brush but smaller to fit the eyes. Can be used to apply all-over base color, lid color, highlight color and to blend.
  • Shadow Liner Brush: Small, flat square brush with a cap. Can be used for eye lining, smudging and small detailing (highlighting inner corners, etc.).
  • Lip Brush: Retractable flat, rectangle brush to apply lipstick or gloss. Can also be used for eyeliner and spot concealing on the face.

I'm not sure what type of hairs the brushes are made of as everything is in Japanese, but the quality is super soft. The set is great to travel with, being able to put together a simple look on the go. I would definitely check out the full-size brushes if the travel sets are just as amazing.

Do you have any favorite HAKUHODO brushes that you'd recommend?
