Chic Shopaholic: Friends & Family 20% Off had a Friends & Family sale so I bought a few new things to try.

  • Origins Drink Up 10 Minute Mask to Quench Skin's Thirst: This is a mask for dry and combination skin that has Apricot Kernal Oil and Algae Extract to hydrate and moisturize the skin. You leave it on for 10 minutes and wash or tissue it off. Origins make another Drink Up mask that you can actually wear overnight but this one works just as well. Sometimes I like to wear it overnight by applying just a thin layer on areas that feels more dry. The next morning, the mask is absorbed into my skin and it feels soft and supple. It has a light, fruity apricot scent with a creamy texture that doesn't feel heavy on the skin and doesn't clog my pores.

  • Blow to Go Travel Kit: I first heard of this brand from missglamorazzi when she showed them in one of her Birchbox videos. I decided to get the set as I thought it would be the best way to trial multiple products.  It includes:
    • Blow Up Daily Voluminizing Shampoo: It's sulfate free that is supposed to add volume and body to the hair without drying it out. I didn't notice any extra fullness but it doesn't weigh down my hair which is good for my normal-fine hair. It doesn't  lather a whole lot and so I use a lot more product because I don't feel my hair is thoroughly clean.
    • Blow Up Daily Voluminizing Conditioner: A conditioner that is supposed to add body and nourish the hair. This also has a lightweight texture and doesn't feel greasy.
    • Heat is On Protective Styling Mist: Detangles, adds shine and strengthens the hair to eliminate breakage. My hair felt smooth, silky and healthy after I used it.
    • Blow Up Thickening Mist: This is supposed to add long-lasting volume without that crunchy texture. It doesn't feel heavy on my hair and I notice the density of my hair is a little thicker.
Overall, I like the fresh floral scent that all the products have and think the quality is decent but it didn't "wow" me enough to purchase full sizes.

I also picked up one product from the site:
  • Boots No.7 Cleanse & Care Eye Makeup Remover: I wanted to find a cheaper alternative to the Lancome Bi-Facil eye makeup remover so I picked this up to try. It's similar to Lancome's where it's oil and water based and it can remove waterproof products. It takes off my eye makeup well without irritating it or leaving a greasy residue. The only thing I dislike about it is the packaging which is a pump dispenser. I normally like that kind of packaging because it's less of a mess but with this, it's difficult to get the product out. You have to pump it quite a few times to get the cotton pad saturated and it can get a little messy. Even the product works well, I would only repurchase it if they redesigned the packaging. Edit: After using this a little longer, I've come to actually liking this product more than Lancome's. The pump dispenser isn't as difficult to use and isn't as messy if I pump it at a slight distance from the cotton pad. The price is a lot more reasonable in my budget and I would repurchase this again.

Did you you take part on the sale? What did you buy?
